In the News…

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries deflected a question about abolishing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in an interview before funding ran out for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

While the House minority leader had previously called the shooting of an anti-ICE activist by federal officers in Michigan an “abomination,“ and indicated his opposition to “extreme“ immigration enforcement policies, he said to the hosts, “I’m going to use the language that I want to use.“

Congressman Jeffries said, “I’ve made clear that taxpayer dollars should be used to make life more affordable for the American people, not brutalize or kill them. That’s the whole reason we’re in this fight right now, that’s the whole reason that DHS is getting ready to shut down.”
